Storying Silence (March-April):
An 8-Week Online Writing Circle for Women
March 2 – April 20 | Mondays, 7–9 PM ET | Zoom | Limited to 12
Storying Silence is an 8-week online writing circle and weekly practice for women who are ready to return to their voices, gently, honestly, and without apology. We write from the body, from memory, from the places that have carried too much for too long, rather than from the rules of an oppressive language system.
Why Now Matters
I’m offering this circle now because this is an important time for women to gather. We are living in a cultural moment that rewards women for shrinking—softening our words, managing other people’s comfort, staying quiet in the face of what should never be tolerated. In moments like this, gathering in circles is not indulgence. It is protection. It is a way of preserving inner authority and refusing erasure.
What We Practice Together
A Storying Silence circle is a place where women can return to language that belongs to them, where truth can arrive in fragments, be witnessed without interruption, and take up space.
This circle is not about perfect craft or tidy conclusions. It’s about telling the truth without forcing it to behave. Through guided prompts, fragments, and deep listening, we practice what I call uncolonized speech: writing that refuses to shrink itself into palatability. I’m offering it as a practice because voice isn’t something we “achieve” once; it’s something we return to, week by week, until it becomes part of our lives.
Each session includes gentle teaching, spacious writing time, and optional sharing held in a culture of witnessing. No advice, no fixing, no performance.
This circle is inspired by my book, Storying Silence: A Guide to Restoring Voice, Reclaiming Autonomy and Sovereignty. The book is not required, but it can be a beautiful companion.

I believe that giving shape to an untold story is not only a work of art—it is a form of becoming.
To write what was once forbidden is to reclaim your voice, your lineage, and your place in the world. A major focus of this workshop is the practice of deep listening—not only to the stories you know, but to those waiting to be born.
Through guided writing prompts, somatic reflection, and ceremonial practices, participants will begin the sacred work of unsilencing in this workshop. Together, we’ll explore what it means to hold forbidden stories with reverence, to speak them with intention, and to shape them into tales that deserve to be preserved.
This is not a workshop for performance or perfection. It is a sanctuary for truth-telling, witnessing, and transformation.
-
This is not a publishing workshop. I won’t be teaching platform-building, querying, or publication strategy. And yet, this circle can be profoundly supportive for writers who are already working on a manuscript, essay, or personal project and have hit a wall.
If you’re feeling blocked, over-edited, or disconnected from the deeper truth of what you’re trying to say, this work can help you return to the living core of your voice, and help your writing move again.

“As a journal keeper for most of my life, and as a Creative Writing teacher, I thought I had a decent understanding of how to express my thoughts and feelings in words…. until I took Jane Clark’s writing workshops, and my eyes were opened to so many stories that I had held in silence for years.”
